Research theme ‘Transnational Families’

The Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development (MACIMIDE) is an interdisciplinary research platform established at Maastricht University by scholars from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, the Faculty of Law, and the School of Business and Economics. The Centre brings together more than 120 senior and junior researchers working on four inter-related research themes: Migration and Development; Transnational Families; Cross-border Mobility; and Citizenship and Immigrant Integration.

The network of MACIMIDE researchers currently includes 120 junior and senior scholars, including around 30 researchers from FASoS from the Departments of Political Science, Technology & Society Studies, and Arts and Literature. On behalf of FASoS, Professor Maarten Vink (Political Science) is Co-Director of MACIMIDE and Leader of the Research Theme “Citizenship and Immigrant Integration.” Also on behalf of FASoS, Professor Valentina Mazzucato (Technology & Society Studies) is a member of the Executive Board of MACIMIDE and the Leader of the Research Theme “Transnational Families.”

MACIMIDE includes researchers from the FASoS Research Programmes of Globalisation, Transnationalism and Development (GTD), Politics and Culture in Europe (PCE), and Arts, Media and Culture (AMC). MACIMIDE also incorporates the Institute for Transnational and Euregional Cross Border Cooperation and Mobility (ITEM).
