Research Highlights

In October 2019, the SHCL celebrated its 70th anniversary, and organised a popular Open Day. The SHCL opened its doors to showcase some of its ‘treasures’. The exhibition of materials from its depots concentrated on the collection of flags, mining history, the history of Sphinx (ceramics industry), and past and present of the midwifery school.

In 2019, SHCL archivists finished the catalogue of the archives of the Nicolas Glass Studio based in Roermond. Among its collections there is also a large set of working drawings for the stained glass windows that the Studio designed and executed. The drawings have been used by Viewmaster Projects for ‘A Stage of Luminosity’, video works made by artist Arno Coenen, that in 2019 have been shown in Roermond and on the Vrijthof in Maastricht. The same drawings also inspired Art Shoe Mafia to produce various shoe designs.
