The Centre for European Research in Maastricht

CERIM

Centre profile

The Centre for European Research in Maastricht (CERiM) is a joint initiative by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Law. It aims at strengthening the existing ties between the two Faculties in the study of European integration, with a view to facilitating new and innovative research in specific topical areas. It also aims to give a substantial input to the UM’s focal point of Europe and a Globalising World. The centre links three existing institutes: the Maastricht Centre for European Governance (FASoS), the Maastricht Centre for European Law (FoL), and the Montesquieu Institute Maastricht (FoL, with participation of FASoS).

The participating centres have an excellent international reputation, vast international academic networks, and count among their members an ERC laureate, several VENI, VIDI and Marie Curie grant winners, holders of Jean Monnet Chairs/Modules, and an EU Centre of Excellence. Together, they comprise over 100 researchers in the fields of European law, governance, history, economics and health sciences.
