On 20 October 2017 Valentina Carraro successfully defended her PhD entitled ‘A double-edged sword : the effects of politicization on the authority of the UN Universal Periodic Review and Treaty Bodies.. The PhD was passed without correction by the committee, consisting of Prof Rosa Freedman (Reading), Prof Andreas von Staden (Hamburg), Prof Tannelie Blom, Prof Cees Flinterman, and Prof Christine Neuhold (all from Maastricht University).
