Jack Post is senior lecturer at the Department of Arts and Literature. He holds a PhD in Semiotics of Film (Nijmegen, 1998).
Before coming to Maastricht he was lecturer at the Radboud University Nijmegen (department of Film and Theatre) (1984-1993) and at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU – Departments of Visual Arts and Design and Art, Media & Technology).
At the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Maastricht, Jack Post is involved in the MA Media Culture, coordinator of the Major Media Culture in the BA programme Arts and Culture. He coordinates the courses Doing Research in Media Culture (Always Already New) and Vademecum Thesis Writing Media Culture in de Major Media Culture, the course Research Design in de MA Media Culture and the course Film Art at the University College Maastricht.
His research is titled Media Dispositives: Technology, Spectators and Texts and his current research focusses on the field of Digital Textualities with a emphasis on Digital Typography.
Fields of interest: semiotics, film and media theory, film studies, science and technology studies, phenomenology, critical theory.
Research topics: new media, graphic design and typography, digital textualities, baroque and neo-baroque, cinema, digital humanities.
